SEN Teaching Assistant
£83.33 per day
Full-time – Long-term role – Term-time only

GSL Education is currently working with an SEND school in Plymouth seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis, with the potential for a permanent position!
The school provides a highly personalised wrap-around education programme for students with complex needs or EHCP pupils at risk of moving into residential placements. Many of these pupils have struggled in special schools or are transitioning back from out-of-county placements.
Each child receives tailored support, often including one-to-one assistance and customised timetables based on thematic learning approaches. A variety of personalised learning opportunities, both inside and outside the classroom, are aimed at engaging students, fostering resilience, and enabling accelerated academic progress.
THE SCHOOL OPERATES ACROSS MULTIPLE SETTINGS, AND WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES COMFORTABLE WORKING WITH KS1 TO KS4. PLEASE NOTE THESE ROLES REQUIRE A UK DRIVING LICENCE AND ACCESS TO YOUR OWN CAR.
These roles are demanding, as the children often display challenging behaviours. Resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting the students’ progress are essential for success as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
Responsibilities:
- Work as a SEN Teaching Assistant, offering individualised guidance and care to students.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to develop tailored support strategies.
- Create a nurturing environment that enhances students' social and communication skills.
- Assist with academic and daily activities, employing interventions to manage behaviour and promote positive outcomes.
Requirements:
- UK DRIVING LICENCE WITH ACCESS TO A CAR.
- Willingness to use your car for work purposes with business insurance.
- Availability for an immediate start on a full-time basis.
- Excellent communication skills for clear and effective collaboration.
- Demonstrated patience, empathy, and adaptability.
- A commitment to student success and progression as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
