School Health Care Assistant

Location: Bournemouth

Start Date: Immediate

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9am – 4pm

Salary Scale: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking for the position of School Health Care Assistant at a supportive school in Bournemouth. This role requires a dedicated professional to provide essential health care services to students, ensuring their well-being throughout the school day. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a nurturing school environment, ensuring students feel supported and able to thrive academically and personally.

Working closely with teaching and support staff, you will offer first aid, manage health records, and provide assistance to students with specific medical needs. Flexibility and a proactive approach are key to succeeding in this role.

Responsibilities of a School Health Care Assistant:

  • Administer first aid and respond to medical emergencies promptly.
  • Provide care and assistance for students with chronic or acute health needs.
  • Maintain up-to-date health records and liaise with parents/carers and healthcare professionals as required.
  • Conduct routine health checks and offer advice on general well-being.
  • Support the development of health care plans in collaboration with staff and external professionals.
  • Promote a culture of health and safety across the school.

Qualifications for a School Health Care Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a health care or similar role (school setting preferred).
  • Relevant first aid or health care qualifications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work compassionately with children.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from the last two years.
  • Possess a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
