Salary: £85 – £110 per day (depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities of the Science Technician:

  • Preparing and setting up equipment, materials, and solutions for science experiments and lessons across Key Stages 3 to 5.
  • Ensuring all equipment and chemicals are stored, handled, and disposed of in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Supporting science teachers during practical lessons, ensuring experiments run smoothly.
  • Maintaining laboratory equipment, conducting routine safety checks, and reporting any faults.
  • Organizing and managing the inventory of lab supplies, ensuring stock levels are sufficient for teaching needs.
  • Assisting in the development of engaging science resources and materials.
  • Promoting a safe and efficient lab environment by adhering to safety protocols and good practices.

Requirements for the Science Technician Role:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • A good understanding of health and safety regulations within a laboratory setting.
  • A science-related qualification (e.g., GCSEs, A-levels, or a degree) is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting the science curriculum.
