About the Role:
As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting students with mental health challenges, ensuring they receive the help and guidance they need to succeed. You will work closely with a team of professionals, including teachers, counsellors and SEN coordinators, to create a nurturing and supportive environment.
Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:
- Provide compassionate and targeted support to students experiencing mental health challenges, fostering a safe and supportive atmosphere.
- Implement one-on-one and small-group interventions tailored to each student's specific mental health needs.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons, ensuring the inclusion and engagement of students with mental health needs.
- Employ effective strategies to manage crises and emotional outbursts, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
- Track and document student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of personalised support plans.
- Stay abreast of the latest educational practices and Autism Spectrum Disorder strategies, engaging in continuous professional development.
What GSL Education is Looking for in the Mental Health Support Worker:
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role supporting children or young people with mental health issues.
- Understanding of ASC and strategies to support children with additional needs.
- A relevant qualification in mental health, psychology, counselling, or a related field.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting the mental health and well-being of young people.
- The ability to adapt to various situations and respond effectively to the needs of individual students.
What Do We Want From You: To thrive in these roles, you should:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps)
- An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
