About the Role:
As an SEN Learning Support, you will play a crucial role in the educational development and well-being of students with special educational needs. Your support will help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student can thrive.
SEN Learning Support Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEN, implementing tailored strategies to meet their individual needs.
- Assist in the planning and delivery of personalised learning programmes, working closely with teachers and other support staff.
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes confidence and self-esteem in students.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support classroom management and help maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
- Collaborate with the SEN team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
- Assist with the preparation and organisation of learning materials and resources.
- Promote positive behaviour and support students in developing social and emotional skills.
SEN Learning Support Job Requirements:
- Prior experience working with children or young adults with SEN is highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or Learning Support are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
- A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to enhancing the educational experiences of students with SEN.
- The ability to adapt to various situations and respond effectively to the needs of individual students.
- Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
