Job Title: SEN Learning Support
Location: Gosport
Salary Range: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and skilled SEN Learning Support professional to join a reputable school in Gosport. This position is critical for delivering children with special education needs personalised assistance so they can thrive both academically and socially.

About the Role:

As an SEN Learning Support, you will be instrumental in providing tailored assistance to students with a range of special educational needs. Your role will involve working closely with teachers, SEN coordinators and other support staff to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

SEN Learning Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, adapting teaching methods to meet their specific needs.
  • Work alongside teachers to develop and implement personalised learning plans and strategies.
  • Assist in tracking and assessing student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Support positive behaviour management strategies, promoting a safe and conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Help create and adapt learning materials and resources to suit the diverse needs of students.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment that boosts students’ confidence and independence.

SEN Learning Support Job Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children or young adults with SEN is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs or Learning Support are highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with a genuine commitment to enhancing the educational experiences of students with SEN.
  • The ability to adapt to various situations and respond effectively to the needs of individual students.
  • Understanding of various Special Education Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
