SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Totton
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long-Term/Permanent, Full-Time/Part-Time

GSL Education are seeking a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in Totton. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact on students' educational journeys while working within a supportive and inclusive environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide essential support to students with diverse needs, helping them to access the curriculum and thrive in their learning environment. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and professionals to ensure students receive tailored support that promotes their academic, social, and emotional growth.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
  • Assist in implementing individual learning plans (ILPs) and supporting students in achieving their goals.
  • Help to adapt lesson materials and activities to meet students' specific needs.
  • Support students in developing social and emotional skills to promote positive behaviour.
  • Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment that promotes confidence and independence.
  • Liaise with parents, teachers, and external professionals to ensure cohesive support for students.

Qualifications & Experience for SEN TA:

  • Experience working with students with SEN in an educational or care setting as a SEN Teaching Assistant.
  • A relevant qualification, such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3, or equivalent, is essential.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies and techniques to support diverse needs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to working with children.
  • Experience in managing challenging behaviour and implementing support strategies.
