Salary: £30,000 - £46,525 per annum (MPS/UPS)

About the Role
As a SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for creating and delivering tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You will work closely with other staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment, helping students to develop both academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities of SEN Teacher
- Develop and implement individualised education plans for students with SEN that involve assessing each student’s unique needs and abilities, setting specific learning goals.
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction tailored to students’ needs that cater to the individual learning styles and requirements of each student, ensuring they receive the attention and support they need to succeed.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as necessary to ensure that each student is progressing towards their goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to each student’s education and well-being, sharing insights and strategies to support their development.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported, encouraging positive interactions and a sense of community.
- Use a variety of teaching methods to engage and motivate students, catering to different learning styles and preferences, and making learning enjoyable and effective.
- Keep detailed records of each student’s progress, including assessments, observations, and feedback, and communicate this information to parents, support staff, and other relevant parties to ensure transparency and collaboration.
Requirements of SEN Teacher
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Prior experience in teaching or supporting students with special educational needs is essential.
- Excellent communication skills are crucial for effectively interacting with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering positive relationships.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with all members of the school community, creating a positive and collaborative environment.
- Show a deep commitment by helping students with SEN, exhibiting patience and empathy in interactions.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN education (desirable but not essential).
