SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £87 - £108 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract: Daily Supply, Long Term

About the Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you’ll assist teachers in providing tailored support to students with SEMH needs. You’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment, encouraging positive behaviour and building students' confidence and resilience.

Responsibilities of the SEMH Teaching Assistant Role (TA):

  • Support teachers in delivering lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to help children achieve their learning goals.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement.
  • Assist in managing challenging behaviour and promoting social-emotional skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to develop individualised support plans.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teaching team.

Requirements for the SEMH Teaching Assistant Role (TA):

  • A strong interest in working with children with SEMH needs.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • The ability to adapt and respond to the unique needs of each student.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).
