Graduate Teaching Assistant (SEN)

Location: Newcastle

Salary: £87 - £108 per day. (Depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Daily Supply / Long Term

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA), you'll play a key role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them overcome challenges and achieve their potential. You will work closely with teachers to deliver tailored support and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

About the Role:

  • Assisting teachers with planning and delivering lessons tailored to students with SEN.
  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students with additional learning needs.
  • Helping to manage the classroom and ensuring a focused learning environment.
  • Building positive relationships with students to encourage their confidence and participation.
  • Supporting the development of inclusive resources and activities.

Responsibilities of the Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Work collaboratively with teachers to support students’ learning.
  • Offer tailored assistance to students with a variety of SEN requirements.
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and foster a respectful learning atmosphere.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
  • Assist with preparing resources and activities for lessons.
  • Promote positive attitudes toward learning and social inclusion.

Requirements for the Graduate Teaching Assistant (TA) Role:

  • A degree in any discipline (relevant education experience is a bonus).
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet diverse student needs.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided).
