Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Dorchester
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full Time/Part Time

The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, fostering their personal growth and helping them thrive in their educational journey.

Responsibilities

As a Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant, your duties will include:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs to develop their confidence and engagement in learning.
  • Assisting the teacher in creating a calm and structured classroom environment.
  • Providing one-on-one and small-group interventions to support emotional and behavioural development.
  • Implementing individual behaviour plans and tracking progress.
  • Building trusting relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.

Requirements

To be a successful SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will need:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEMH needs (advantageous but not essential).
  • A caring and resilient personality, with a passion for supporting children.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all students.
  • The ability to remain calm and flexible in challenging situations.
