SEN Teaching Assistant
Hourly Rate: £12.82 to £14.72 (Depending on Experience)
Location: Hook
Start Date: ASAP

Role Overview:

As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will provide targeted support to students with additional learning needs. You’ll work closely with individuals or small groups, helping them engage with the curriculum and build confidence in their abilities. By collaborating with teachers and other professionals, you’ll help create an inclusive environment where each student can thrive academically and socially.

Main Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them understand tasks and stay engaged in lessons.
  • Tailor your approach to meet the unique learning needs of each student, offering encouragement and guidance.
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons that are accessible to all students, fostering an inclusive classroom environment.
  • Monitor students’ progress and adjust your support to ensure they achieve their learning goals.
  • Work closely with the SENCO and other team members to provide the best possible educational experience for every student.

Requirements of the SEN TA:

  • Previous experience supporting students with SEN is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to form positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting children with additional learning needs.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
