SEN Teaching Assistant
Hourly Rate: £12.82 to £14.72 (Depending on Experience)
Location: Chandler's Ford
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

About the Role:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will involve providing tailored support to students with additional learning needs. You’ll work directly with individuals or small groups, helping them engage with the curriculum and boosting their confidence. By collaborating with teachers and other school staff, you’ll play a key role in fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students can thrive and feel supported.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEN, helping them access and understand the curriculum.
  • Adjust your approach to meet the individual learning needs of each student, ensuring they feel confident and motivated.
  • Work alongside teachers to deliver engaging and accessible lessons for all students.
  • Regularly track student progress and adapt your support to help them overcome any learning barriers.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure students receive the best possible support.

Requirements of the SEN TA:

  • Previous experience working with students with SEN is beneficial but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with additional learning needs.
  • A team player who can also work independently to meet the individual needs of students.
  • An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
