Role Overview:
As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students with additional learning needs access their lessons and feel confident in their abilities. You’ll provide tailored, one-to-one, or small group support, guiding students through their learning tasks and fostering their development. Working alongside passionate teachers and staff, you'll be instrumental in creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where every student can succeed.
Key Responsibilities of the SEN TA:
- Provide focused support to students with SEN, helping them understand tasks and participate in lessons.
- Adapt your approach to each student’s unique learning style, ensuring they feel engaged and capable.
- Work closely with teachers to deliver inclusive lessons that cater to a variety of learning needs.
- Regularly assess student progress and make adjustments to your support to help them overcome any challenges.
- Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff to ensure that each student receives the best possible education and care.
An Ideal Candidate Should Have:
- Previous experience with SEN students is an advantage but not essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with students and colleagues.
- A patient, understanding, and proactive approach to supporting children with diverse learning needs.
- A team player who can also work independently to meet the needs of each student.
- An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
