Job Overview:

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will be working directly with students who require additional assistance. Your focus will be to provide individual and small group support, helping students participate fully in lessons and enhancing their learning experience. You will play an important role in assisting students with diverse learning needs to thrive academically and socially, collaborating with teachers to create an inclusive and accessible classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN Learning Support Assistant:

  • Offer one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN to help them engage with the curriculum.
  • Provide tailored assistance to ensure students can understand and complete tasks effectively according to their individual learning needs.
  • Track and assess student progress, adjusting support methods to meet evolving educational needs.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to deliver the best possible support for students with SEN.

Requirements For the Special Educational Needs Learning Support:

  • Previous experience in a similar role with SEN students is advantageous but not essential.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with students and staff effectively.
  • A kind, patient approach to working with children who have additional learning requirements.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team to support students.
  • An up-to-date CV and an enhanced DBS check registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
