Complex Needs Support Worker
Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire
Start Date: January 2025
Salary: £83 – £100 per day

Contract Type: Full Time

GSL Education are seeking a Complex Needs Support Worker to work at a Client Secondary school in Scarborough, starting in January 2025. This rewarding role offers an opportunity to provide essential support and care to students with a range of learning needs.

Complex Needs Support Worker Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with complex learning needs.
  • Collaborating with the students, family and relevant partied to develop and implement a student centred service plan to meet their social, emotional and developmental needs.
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individualised education and care plans.
  • Assist in the personal care of students whenever required.
  • Working with the class teachers to develop sensory, speech, language, and communication needs.
  • Managing behaviours within the classroom and being aware of triggers, using de-escalation techniques. 
  • Use specialist equipment and techniques to support students' learning and development.

Complex Needs Support Worker Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in education, health, or social care (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health & Social Care) is desirable.
  • Experience supporting children or young adults with complex needs, such as ASC, PMLD, SEMH, or physical disabilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with staff and families.
  • Experience in using assistive technologies or communication tools is a plus.
  • Hold a DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
