SEN Teaching Assistant 

Location: Locks Heath 
Salary: £12.82 to £14.72, per hour (Depending on experience) 
Start Date: Immediate 
Contract Type: Long Term / Permanent, Full Time / Part Time

GSL Education are hiring a kind and capable SEN Teaching Assistant to work with students who have specific learning needs in Locks Heath. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to positively impact the lives of children with special educational needs in a warm and encouraging school setting. 

Responsibilities: 

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should have: 

  • Implement Educational Healthcare Plans (EHCPs) to meet individual students' needs effectively. 

  • Assist with behaviour management strategies to promote a positive and supportive classroom atmosphere. 

  • Encourage participation and engagement from all students, fostering an inclusive learning environment. 

  • Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to ensure seamless support for students with special educational needs. 

  • Monitor and document student progress, sharing updates with the educational team to aid continued improvement. 

 

Requirements: 

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you should have: 

  • Previous experience working with SEN students or relevant training in special education is desirable. 

  • A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is preferred. 

  • A compassionate, patient approach with a passion for supporting students to overcome barriers to learning. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students and collaborate with colleagues. 

  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varied needs of students in a dynamic classroom environment. 

  • An understanding of different SEN conditions and how they affect learning and behaviour. 

  • An updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
