Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Location: Boscombe

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Full-time / Part-time

Salary Scale: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and motivated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Boscombe. In this role, you will work closely with students to provide tailored support to those with mental health challenges, fostering their academic and personal development. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about mental health and education, offering a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact on young lives.

As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will provide in-class and one-on-one support to students facing mental health challenges. You will work under the guidance of teaching staff and the school’s pastoral team to create an inclusive and positive learning environment.

Responsibilities of a Mental Health Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with mental health needs to engage positively in classroom activities
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to develop and deliver personalised learning strategies
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and support staff
  • Assist with classroom management and promote a supportive learning atmosphere
  • Encourage positive social interactions and provide emotional support when needed

Required Qualifications for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with mental health needs is highly desirable
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team as well as independently
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
