Contract Type: Daily Supply, Long Term
Pay Rate: £87 - £108 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) Teaching Assistant (Secondary) to join schools in North Shields. Role Overview:
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Secondary), you will support students with SEMH needs in their academic, social, and emotional development. Your role will involve working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to ensure that every student has the tools and encouragement to thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage with their learning.
- Assist in delivering lessons and classroom activities alongside the teacher.
- Develop and implement strategies to support students' emotional and social development.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Monitor and document student progress, reporting to staff and parents as needed.
- Help manage challenging behaviors using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs in a secondary school setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- A relevant qualification or training in SEMH support is desirable but not essential.
