About the Role:
As a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with SEN. Your primary responsibility is to assist these students in overcoming barriers to learning and to help them achieve their educational and personal goals. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to deliver tailored educational experiences that cater to the individual needs of each student.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with teachers and SENCOs to develop and implement tailored support strategies for students with special educational needs.
- Adapt educational resources and classroom activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Provide direct, one-on-one and group support during lessons, helping with various tasks and activities.
- Assist with the implementation of behaviour management techniques suited to individual students.
- Foster the development of students' social skills and confidence through targeted interventions.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage their engagement and motivation.
- Work with parents and external professionals to ensure a holistic support system is in place for each student.
SEN Teaching Assistant Job Requirements:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
- A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous.
- Previous experience as a Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
- Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
