Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Salary: £12.82 to £14.72 hourly (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant in an SEN school located in Basingstoke. This role is integral to providing tailored support to students with special educational needs, helping them flourish academically and socially. Your efforts will contribute significantly to fostering an inclusive educational environment where every student feels valued and empowered.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be essential for aiding students with special educational needs. The majority of your responsibility is to help these students overcome impediments to their education and accomplish their academic and personal objectives. You will collaborate closely with educators and other support personnel to provide tailored learning opportunities that meet the needs of every student.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide direct assistance to special education needs students, offering personalised support to enhance their learning experience.
- Assist small groups of students with SEN, facilitating their participation in classroom activities.
- Work with teachers to implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of students.
- Help manage classroom activities and create an inclusive environment that promotes learning and positive behaviour.
- Track and report on the progress of special educational needs students, providing valuable feedback to teachers and parents.
- Support students in developing their independence and self-confidence, preparing them for future challenges.
SEN Teaching Assistant Job Requirements:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
- A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous.
- Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
- Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
