GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant in Swanwick. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with students, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant (TA), you will play a pivotal role in the classroom, assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Whether you’re supporting individual students or small groups, your efforts will ensure every child feels valued and supported in their educational journey.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant:

  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students, addressing their individual learning needs.
  • Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation and collaboration.
  • Monitor and record student progress, sharing observations with teaching staff to inform future planning.
  • Support students with additional learning needs, promoting their independence and confidence.
  • Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of learning materials and administrative tasks.
  • Uphold school policies, including those related to behaviour management and safeguarding, to ensure a safe and productive environment for all.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience working as a teaching assistant in a school setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy and a genuine enthusiasm for supporting young people’s development.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one with GSL Education).
