Job Summary
As a Science Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and dynamic lessons that help students of year 7 to year 11 explore the wonders of science and develop a love for the subject.
Responsibilities
As a Science Teacher, your duties will include:
- Delivering engaging and well-structured lessons in Science, in line with the national curriculum.
- Planning and adapting lessons to cater to a wide range of student abilities, ensuring each child can reach their full potential.
- Creating a stimulating and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active learning.
- Using a variety of teaching methods, including practical activities, to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Tracking student progress, providing regular feedback, and adjusting teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
- Maintaining high standards of classroom management and student behaviour, ensuring a positive and respectful learning atmosphere.
- Collaborating with colleagues to plan and deliver cross-curricular learning experiences.
- Supporting extracurricular activities that enhance students’ understanding of science and inspire them outside the classroom.
Requirements
To be considered for the Science Teacher role, you will need:
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), PGCE or equivalent, or be working towards achieving it in Secondary Science.
- A solid understanding of the Science curriculum for both KS3 and KS4.
- Previous experience in teaching Science, particularly at GCSE level, is desirable.
- A passion for teaching and inspiring young learners to engage with and succeed in Science.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to create an inclusive, positive learning environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, as well as a commitment to personal and professional development.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or the willingness to apply for one.
