SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Southampton
Pay Rate: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long Term/Permanent; Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start in Southampton.
In this role, you will provide essential support to students with various learning needs, helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing educational environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to ensure students receive the assistance they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, helping them access the curriculum.
- Assist in the implementation of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and IEPs (Individual Education Plans) to tailor learning to individual needs.
- Encourage students to develop independence and confidence both in and outside the classroom.
- Support students with a variety of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
- Collaborate with the class teacher to ensure the classroom is inclusive and supportive for all students.
- Assist with the monitoring of student progress and provide feedback to the teacher.
Qualifications and Skills:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance is preferred.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, or related fields would be an advantage.
- Previous experience supporting students with SEN as a SEN Teaching Assistant is desirable.
- Knowledge of various special needs, including Autism and ADHD etc. is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and empathy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
