SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Havant
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long Term/Permanent; Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools across Havant starting immediately. This role offers the chance to make a real impact by working closely with students, helping them navigate their learning journeys and overcome challenges. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be part of a collaborative team, delivering tailored interventions and ensuring each student reaches their full potential. Whether you’re supporting students individually or within small groups, your efforts will directly contribute to creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with a range of needs during lessons, ensuring their engagement and progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers to implement IEPs and EHCPs effectively.
  • Assist in adapting lesson plans and learning materials to meet individual needs.
  • Provide emotional and behavioural support, fostering positive coping strategies.
  • Monitor and report on student progress to SENCOs and classroom teachers.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Encourage the development of social skills and independent learning.

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is desirable.
  • Adegree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant in schools is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with managing behavioural challenges and supporting students with ASD, ADHD, or other SEN needs.
  • Strong communication, patience, and adaptability.
  • A proactive and empathetic approach to supporting students.
