SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Fareham
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediately
Contract Type: Long Term/Permanent; Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools in Fareham.
Your role will involve providing personalised support to students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. You’ll work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored interventions, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, you’ll be an integral part of the students’ educational journey, ensuring their needs are met and their potential unlocked.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support students with varying needs.
- Assist in the implementation of IEPs and EHCPs, ensuring personalised support.
- Provide individual or group support during lessons to enhance student engagement.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help students develop coping strategies.
- Adapt learning materials to suit different abilities and learning styles.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and SENCOs.
- Promote a safe and nurturing learning environment for all students.
SEN Teaching Assistant Qualifications:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is desirable.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous.
- Previous experience in schools as an SEN Teaching Assistant is beneficial.
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability.
- Experience in managing behavioural challenges in a school setting.
- Knowledge of ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties and other SEN conditions.
