SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Portsmouth
Pay Rate: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediately
Contract Type: Long Term/ Permanent; Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join schools in Portsmouth.
This role involves providing tailored support to students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their academic and personal goals. You will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure each student receives the care and guidance they need. Your role as a SEN TA will be vital in fostering an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. Whether offering one-to-one support or assisting small groups, your contribution will empower students to grow in confidence and develop essential life skills.
SEN TA Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with Special Educational Needs.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring IEPs and EHCPs tailored to individual needs.
- Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support teachers with behaviour management strategies and personalised learning plans.
- Monitor and report on student progress, adapting strategies as needed.
- Foster students’ personal and social development through consistent guidance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is desirable.
- A degree in Psychology, Education, or a related field is advantageous.
- Previous experience supporting students with special needs or as an SEN Teaching Assistant is highly valued.
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability.
