Salary: £83.33 - £90.00 per day (Depending on experience)
Start: Immediately
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Autism Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school community in Scunthorpe. In this vital role, you will provide tailored support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), helping them to engage with the curriculum, develop social skills and achieve their full potential.

About the role:
As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will provide personalised care and support to students with autism. This role allows you to make a positive impact on their well-being and overall development as they follow their educational health care plans. Your role will involve working closely with teachers to create an inclusive learning environment that caters to the individual needs of each student.

Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ensuring they can access the curriculum and participate fully in school activities.
  • Implement tailored strategies and interventions to support the unique needs of students with ASD, fostering their academic and social development.
  • Assist teachers in creating and maintaining an inclusive classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents and other relevant professionals.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote understanding and awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder within the school community, contributing to a supportive and inclusive ethos.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Previous experience as an Autism Teaching Assistant in a school or similar role is preferred or specific training in supporting students with ASD.
  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and effective strategies to support their learning and development.
  • Patience, empathy and a commitment to providing high-quality support to students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to adjust to the changing needs of students with autism.
  • A caring and patient attitude when supporting students with different needs.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
