SEN Teacher

Location: Southampton

Start Date: January 2025

Contract: Full-time/Permanent

Salary Scale: £30,000 - £46,525 (MPS/UPS) (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join a vibrant school in Southampton. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference in the lives of students with Special Educational Needs. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of SEND frameworks, a passion for inclusive education, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.

As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering tailored lessons, fostering a supportive classroom environment, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to implement personalised education plans effectively.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teacher:

  • Provide differentiated instruction to students with special educational needs.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants and external specialists to implement interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour management strategies within the classroom.
  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities that support student development.

Required Qualifications for an SEN Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in teaching students with SEN.
  • Strong knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
