Autism Teaching Assistant
Location: Sholing
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/Part-time
Salary Scale: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on experience)
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Autism Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Sholing. Your work will focus on fostering an inclusive learning environment, providing personalised support, and implementing effective strategies to meet individual learning goals. As an Autism Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring students with additional needs can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities of an Autism Teaching Assistant:
- Provide tailored one-to-one and small-group support to students with ASD.
- Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) under the guidance of teachers and SENCO.
- Promote positive behaviour management and emotional well-being.
- Support class teachers with planning and delivering lessons that cater to individual needs.
- Foster social and communication skills development through interactive and sensory-based activities.
Required Qualifications for an Autism Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience working with children with Autism or SEN in a school setting.
- A compassionate, patient, and proactive approach to working with children.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
- Relevant training or qualifications in SEN (desirable but not essential).
