Job Title: Outdoor Learning Facilitator
Location: Scarborough
Salary Range: £83.34 - £96 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
We are hiring an Outdoor Learning Facilitator to plan and oversee nature-based activities that complement our curriculum and enhance student engagement. If you have experience in outdoor education, are creative, and are passionate about the benefits of learning outside the classroom, this role is perfect for you.
Responsibilities of the Outdoor Learning Facilitator:
- Design, organise, and lead outdoor learning activities that complement classroom-based lessons and promote experiential learning.
- Develop and implement nature-based programs that foster environmental awareness, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
- Ensure all outdoor activities are safely planned, risk-assessed, and comply with health and safety regulations.
- Encourage students to explore the natural world and develop skills such as leadership, resilience, and environmental responsibility.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to integrate outdoor learning into the broader curriculum, ensuring it aligns with academic objectives.
- Create engaging and educational outdoor experiences, including nature walks, field trips, environmental projects, and team-building exercises.
- Monitor and evaluate student progress in outdoor learning, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and engage with nature.
- Maintain equipment, resources, and outdoor spaces, ensuring they are ready for use and in good condition.
Requirements of the Outdoor Learning Facilitator:
- Experience in outdoor education, environmental studies, or a similar field with a strong understanding of the benefits of learning in natural settings.
- Creativity and the ability to design engaging, hands-on activities that motivate students to learn outside the classroom.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with a range of students and staff.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards for outdoor activities and risk management procedures.
- Passion for the environment and a commitment to promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship among students.
- Ability to motivate and inspire students, encouraging participation and building confidence in outdoor settings.
- A relevant qualification in outdoor education, environmental science, or a related field (e.g., outdoor education degree, Forest School Leader qualification) is desirable but not essential.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
