Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of students with autism? A local Secondary School in Dorchester is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Teaching Assistant to join the team from September.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with autism, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and achieving their learning goals.
- Foster a nurturing and understanding atmosphere where students feel safe and valued, promoting their social and emotional development.
- Work closely with teachers and other staff to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies tailored to each student’s needs.
- Support effective communication between students, teachers, and parents/guardians, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and involved in the student’s progress.
- Encourage and empower students to develop their independence and life skills, promoting self-confidence and resilience.
- Regularly assess and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to progress reports and reviews.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support assistants to create a cohesive learning environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
Requirements:
- Experience or training in supporting individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting student development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and colleagues alike.
- Flexibility and adaptability in responding to the changing needs of students and the school environment.
- Commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality within an educational setting.
