Salary: £87 - £108 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join one of our client primary schools in Gateshead. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant , you will be working closely with primary-aged children who need additional support with their emotional and social development. You will help students overcome barriers to learning, provide tailored academic and emotional support, and work with the wider school team to create a safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities as an SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary):
- Provide tailored support to primary-aged students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with lessons and manage their emotions.
- Assist in delivering personalised learning activities and interventions, helping students to overcome academic and emotional challenges.
- Support students in developing their social and emotional skills, ensuring they are prepared for classroom learning and social interactions.
- Work closely with class teachers to create individualised learning plans for students, helping to monitor and track their progress.
- Assist with behaviour management, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to maintain a calm and focused learning environment.
- Promote inclusivity and well-being, creating a supportive atmosphere for students with SEMH needs to flourish both academically and socially.
Ideal Candidate for the SEMH Teaching Assistant (Primary) Role:
- Experience working with primary-aged students, particularly those with SEMH or other additional needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach, with the ability to work effectively with children facing emotional challenges.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents.
- A genuine passion for supporting young children to succeed, both academically and emotionally.
- A commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment that meets the individual needs of all students.
