SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Winchester
Salary: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will help SEN students access their learning, build confidence, and participate fully in classroom activities. You will work closely with teachers and staff to deliver tailored support that enables each student to achieve their best. This position is ideal for someone who is dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide individual and small group support to students with special educational needs, helping them engage with class activities and lessons.
  • Assist in implementing individual learning plans (ILPs) and adapting teaching methods to meet the needs of each student.
  • Offer support with personal care, mobility, and other physical or emotional needs as required.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment where students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Help manage and support students' behaviour, promoting positive social skills and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to track and monitor student progress.
  • Build supportive and trusting relationships with students, encouraging independence and self-confidence.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in supporting children or young people with special educational needs is desirable, but not essential.
  • A caring, empathetic, and patient approach when working with students who have SEN.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and flexibly to the needs of different students in a dynamic classroom environment.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
