Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Sholing (Depending on experience)

Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and motivated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Sholing. This role is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the learning experiences of students who need extra support.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in providing tailored support to students with special educational needs, helping them to reach their academic and personal goals. Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, the SEN Teaching Assistant will contribute to a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment that respects and values each student’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group assistance, adapting learning activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Help maintain a structured, positive learning environment by supporting classroom management and setting clear expectations.
  • Implement and adapt lesson plans in alignment with students' individualised education programs (IEPs).
  • Track and report on student progress, working closely with teachers and parents to ensure consistent support.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive space where students feel comfortable engaging and exploring their potential.
  • Work effectively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to align on best strategies for each student’s development.

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Prior experience working with children, especially those with SEN, is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a caring, patient attitude.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ, are advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
