SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Waterlooville

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Part-Time / Full-Time

Salary Scale: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Waterlooville, providing essential support to students with Special Educational Needs. The ideal candidate will support children in their learning and personal development, ensuring a safe, positive, and inclusive environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students requiring additional support, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive in the classroom. You’ll work alongside classroom teachers and other support staff to create tailored strategies for each pupil, fostering their academic and social growth.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-on-one or small-group support to SEN students.
  • Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning plans.
  • Foster a positive, engaging learning environment.
  • Encourage student participation and assist with managing behaviour.
  • Help students with personal care when needed, following the school’s policies.

Required Qualifications for an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willing to apply for a new check.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to changing needs.
