SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Cosham

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Part-Time / Full-Time

Salary Scale: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant school in Cosham. The SEN Teaching Assistant will support SEN students’ educational and personal development by working one-on-one or in small groups. You will implement individualised support plans, assisting students in developing key skills that help them navigate both academic and social settings.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in providing a positive, inclusive experience for all students. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in delivering tailored educational support, ensuring each child reaches their potential in a nurturing environment.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Support students with SEN, helping them with both academic and emotional needs.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver individualised learning plans.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist in implementing behaviour management strategies.
  • Provide feedback to teachers and parents on student progress.

Required Qualifications for an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Previous experience in a similar SEN support role.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and child development.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability.
  • Basic safeguarding and child protection knowledge.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
