SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Gosport
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day / Long-Term, Part-Time / Full-Time
Salary Scale: £12.82 to £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools in Gosport for supporting students with Special Educational Needs. In this role, you will be instrumental in helping students overcome learning challenges by providing tailored assistance, both in small groups and one-on-one settings. The role requires sensitivity, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards helping children achieve their personal best.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will collaborate closely with teaching staff to develop personalised support strategies, track progress, and foster a safe, nurturing learning environment where students feel valued and understood. This is an ideal role for someone who is compassionate, patient, and committed to making a meaningful difference in students' lives.
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with special educational needs.
- Assist in implementing individualised learning plans as directed by teachers and SEN coordinators.
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment for students with a range of needs.
- Help students build essential social and academic skills to support their development.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to teaching staff.
Required Qualifications for SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in SEN or inclusive education.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for a new check.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt support strategies based on individual needs.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment.
