Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield S9
Salary: £95 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Full-Time

GSL Education are seeking a dynamic and reliable Cover Supervisor to join a well-established school in Sheffield (S9). As a Cover Supervisor, your role will be to oversee classes during teacher absence, ensuring that students remain focused and engaged while following the lesson plans provided. This is an ideal position for anyone who enjoys working with young people, has strong classroom management skills, and is ready to take on new challenges.

Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise students in the absence of their usual teacher, ensuring they remain on task and engaged with the lesson.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and activities to students.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure a safe, respectful learning environment.
  • Provide support to students with learning tasks, answering questions and giving encouragement where necessary.
  • Ensure students follow school rules and maintain discipline in class.
  • Report any issues or concerns to the relevant staff members as required.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behaviour during the lesson.

Requirements for the Cover Supervisor:

  • Previous experience working with young people, ideally in a school or educational setting (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and confident in managing groups of students.
  • Ability to follow lesson plans and ensure students stay on task.
  • Good organisational skills and a calm, patient approach.
  • A current DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures (mandatory).
