Job Title: Teaching Assistant (TA)
Location: Hull
Salary Range: £83 - £96 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
GSL Education are looking for a skilled and dedicated Teaching Assistant with a strong focus on supporting students in Maths and Literacy to work within a variety of Primary Schools across the city. You will work closely with the class teachers across the school to provide targeted support to children who require additional help in these subjects.
Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:
- Provide individual and small group support to students who require additional help with Maths and Literacy.
- Assist class teachers in planning and delivering targeted interventions tailored to students' specific learning needs.
- Monitor and track students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and adapting support strategies where necessary.
- Encourage students’ engagement and motivation, creating a positive learning environment that fosters confidence in Maths and Literacy.
- Support children in developing key skills, including reading, writing, and numeracy, through a variety of learning activities.
- Assist with classroom management to ensure a productive and supportive atmosphere for all students.
- Collaborate with class teachers and SENCO to review students' progress and contribute to planning and progress meetings.
- Provide feedback to parents/guardians on student progress as required.
- Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the wellbeing of all students.
Requirements of the Teaching Assistant:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
- Strong knowledge of primary-level Maths and Literacy and an understanding of effective teaching strategies for these subjects.
- Excellent communication skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage and motivate students.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate) is desirable.
- Ability to adapt support to meet the diverse learning needs of children.
- Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
