Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

Salary Range: £83.33 - £90.00 per day (Depending on experience)

About the role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be at the forefront of fostering an inclusive, supportive, and inspiring learning environment. Your focus will be to provide tailored assistance to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), helping them overcome barriers to learning and succeed both academically and personally.

Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant:

  • Work closely with teachers to provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEN.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and encourage positive interactions.
  • Support students’ social, emotional, and educational growth, tailoring your approach to meet their unique needs.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress, reporting observations to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to each student’s learning journey.
  • Prepare and adapt educational resources to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes confidence and independence.

Requirements of the Learning Support Assistant:

  • Proven experience working with children or young adults with SEN.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certification, are desirable.
  • Strong understanding of SEN and strategies to support various learning needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong, positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and supportive under pressure.
  • Proficiency in observing and assessing student progress.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
