Autism Support Worker

Location: Southampton

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Full-time/Part-time

Salary Scale: £76.92 - £95.68 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and passionate Autism Support Worker to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a vibrant school in Southampton. This is an ideal role for anyone passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young people and dedicated to promoting inclusive education.

As an Autism Support Worker, you will work closely with teachers, educational psychologists, and other professionals to provide individualised support, helping students navigate both academic and social challenges. Your responsibilities will include offering one-on-one assistance, helping manage behaviour, and implementing tailored strategies to aid in students’ development.

Responsibilities of an Autism Support Worker:

  • Provide direct support to students with Autism Spectrum Condition
  • Implement individualised learning and behavioural strategies
  • Assist in classroom management and create a supportive learning atmosphere
  • Liaise with teaching staff and other professionals to support students' educational progress
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour

Qualifications for an Autism Support Worker:

  • Experience in a similar support role, preferably with children with autism or special educational needs
  • Understanding of ASC and strategies to support children with additional needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection
