Job Position: Head of Faculty: Humanities and Social Studies
Location: Tower Hamlets
Salary: £35,000 - £57,000 per annum
Start Date: Easter 2025
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time

Are you an experienced leader passionate about Humanities and Social Studies? A co-educational comprehensive secondary school and sixth form in Tower Hamlets is searching for an inspirational Head of Faculty: Humanities and Social Studies to lead and develop its faculty. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact in a school that values excellence, collaboration, and student success.

As the Head of Faculty: Humanities and Social Studies, you’ll guide a talented team to deliver an engaging, high-quality curriculum across Humanities and Social Studies subjects. Your leadership will inspire staff and students alike, setting high standards for academic performance and fostering a love of learning.

Head of Faculty: Humanities and Social Studies Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and support the Humanities and Social Studies faculty in curriculum planning and delivery.
  • Drive academic excellence and ensure outstanding progress and outcomes across Humanities and Social Studies.
  • Develop innovative teaching strategies and curriculum plans to inspire student engagement and achievement.
  • Mentor and support teaching staff, ensuring professional growth and best practice across the faculty.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to inform improvements and address challenges.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and school leadership to promote cross-curricular links.
  • Organize faculty events, trips, and enrichment opportunities to enhance student learning experiences.

Head of Faculty: Humanities and Social Studies Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and relevant teaching qualification.
  • Significant experience teaching Humanities or Social Studies subjects at the secondary level.
  • Previous leadership experience in a similar role or department head position.
  • Proven success in raising attainment and inspiring both staff and students.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to developing inclusive, student-focused education.
