Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Sholing
Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day
Contract: Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: Immediate

GSL Education are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work at a welcoming client school in Sholing.
Role Overview:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you’ll support students with emotional and mental health challenges, working closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, nurturing environment. Your role as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant will involve promoting positive behaviour, providing individual and group support, and fostering resilience in students to help them thrive.
Responsibilities:
- Assist students with mental health needs in a classroom setting.
- Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
- Work alongside teachers and staff to create tailored support plans.
- Help students develop coping skills and self-confidence.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive environment that respects all students.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people, preferably in mental health support.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in student welfare.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
- Relevant qualifications or training in mental health or support work are desirable.
