Mental Health Teaching Assistant in Sholing

Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant
Location: Sholing
Salary: £76.92 - £95.68 per day
Contract: Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: Immediate

Are you passionate about supporting young people with mental health needs and ready to play an essential role in their growth and well-being?

GSL Education are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Teaching Assistant to work at a welcoming client school in Sholing.

Role Overview:
As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you’ll support students with emotional and mental health challenges, working closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, nurturing environment. Your role as a Mental Health Teaching Assistant will involve promoting positive behaviour, providing individual and group support, and fostering resilience in students to help them thrive.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with mental health needs in a classroom setting.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Work alongside teachers and staff to create tailored support plans.
  • Help students develop coping skills and self-confidence.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive environment that respects all students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in mental health support.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in student welfare.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in mental health or support work are desirable.
