Payrate: £87 - £108 per day

We have an exciting opportunity for an ASD Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team at a welcoming primary school in Sunderland!
About the Role:
As an ASD Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting primary school students with ASD, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and inclusive educational setting.
Key Responsibilities of ASD Teaching Assistant:
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans for students with ASD to tailor educational activities and resources to meet the specific needs of each student.
- Teach a range of subjects to students in Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7) and Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11).
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASD to help students understand and complete their work, providing additional explanations and assistance as needed.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback to teachers and adjusting support strategies as necessary.
- Participate in meetings and discussions to share insights and strategies for supporting each student’s learning and well-being.
- Help foster a welcoming and supportive atmosphere where all students feel valued and included.
- Employ different instructional techniques and materials to cater to the diverse learning styles and needs of students.
- Keep detailed notes on each student’s development and communicate this information to teachers, parents, and other relevant parties.
Requirements of ASD Teaching Assistant:
- Relevant qualifications in supporting students with special educational needs (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
- Experience working with students with ASD preferably in a primary setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues, building positive and supportive relationships.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish trust and rapport with all members of the school community.
- Show a deep commitment in helping students with ASD by exhibiting patience and empathy in your interactions.
- Additional qualifications or training in special education are advantageous but not mandatory, providing you with additional skills and knowledge to support students with ASD effectively.

- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
