Job Title: ASD Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £87 - £108 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Daily Supply, Long Term

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated ASD Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant primary school in Newcastle. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children with ASD, helping them thrive in a nurturing and inclusive educational environment.

Role Overview:
As an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Teaching Assistant  in a primary school, you’ll work closely with teachers and SEN specialists to support students with ASD, adapting to their unique learning needs and helping create a positive, inclusive classroom experience. Your role will be instrumental in assisting students with their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder in their daily learning activities and help them stay engaged.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support tailored to each child’s needs, reinforcing learning and social skills.
  • Assist with lesson delivery and modify materials to make them accessible and engaging for students with ASD.
  • Help create a structured and supportive classroom environment, maintaining consistency in routines.
  • Foster students' social and communication skills through targeted activities and positive reinforcement.
  • Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents where applicable.

Requirements:

  • Experience in supporting children with ASD or relevant SEN experience (experience in a primary school setting is a plus).
  • Excellent communication skills, patience, and a compassionate approach to working with children.
  • Ability to adapt to the unique needs of each child and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and the well-being of students.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
