We have an exciting opportunity for an Autism Specialist to join our dedicated team at a welcoming school in Lincoln!
About the Role:
As an Autism Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with autism, helping to create a positive and effective learning environment. You will work closely with teachers to plan and deliver tailored support, provide one-on-one and small group assistance, and develop individualised learning plans. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in a supportive and inclusive educational environment.
Key Responsibilities of Autism Specialist:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored support for students with autism, working closely with teachers to enhance student learning.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support tailored to students’ needs, ensuring they receive the attention and assistance they need to succeed.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting support strategies as necessary to ensure that each student is progressing towards their goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to each student’s education and well-being, sharing insights and strategies to support their development.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported, encouraging positive interactions and a sense of community.
- Use a variety of support methods to engage and motivate students, catering to different learning styles and preferences, and making learning enjoyable and effective.
- Keep detailed records of each student’s progress, including assessments, observations, and feedback, and communicate this information to parents, support staff, and other relevant parties to ensure transparency and collaboration.
Requirements of Autism Specialist:
- Prior experience in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN), particularly autism, is essential.
- Excellent communication skills are crucial for effectively interacting with students, parents, and colleagues, fostering positive relationships.
- Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain strong, supportive relationships with all members of the school community, creating a positive and collaborative environment.
- Show a deep commitment to helping students with autism succeed, exhibiting patience and empathy in interactions.
- Relevant qualifications or training in special education (desirable but not essential).
