SEN Teacher

Location: Portsmouth

Salary Scale:  £30,000 to £46,525 per annum

About the Role:

GSL Education are actively seeking a qualified Teacher for immediate placement at a School in Portsmouth. We are looking for someone who is committed to cultivating a vibrant and inclusive learning environment and will deliver a high-quality education and foster holistic development for the students.

About the Academy:

The school serves pupils aged 4-11 with complex learning difficulties, often alongside additional needs such as autism, speech and communication challenges, and medical conditions. Here everyone is kind, helpful, and considerate, and the school aims to support the students in becoming confident communicators and more independent individuals. Their goal is to help students develop the skills needed to make positive contributions to their community.

SEN Teacher Role:

  • Engage students with dynamic and tailored lessons that address their diverse learning needs.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and stimulating learning environment, encouraging active participation and a passion for learning.
  • Employ effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive and conducive atmosphere for learning.
  • Innovatively plan and implement teaching methods aligned with educational standards, ensuring a comprehensive curriculum delivery.
  • Assess student progress regularly, offering timely and constructive feedback to support their academic development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and parents to create and implement individualised learning plans for students with specific needs.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and respect within the classroom.
  • Prioritise the well-being of students by upholding safeguarding practices and ensuring a safe learning environment.

Requirements for SEN Teacher Role:

  • Hold Qualified Teaching Status: PGCE with QTS or QTLS or working towards QTS
  • Be passionate about their subject area
  • Be proactive, energetic, kind and caring
  • A full checkable work history

  • Have the right to work in the UK. 
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years. 
  • Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education
