SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant

Location: Bournemouth

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Salary Scale: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our client schools, supporting students with special educational needs in Bournemouth. This role offers a dynamic working environment where you will be responsible for fostering an inclusive classroom environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you’ll engage with students across all age groups and assist in adapting lesson materials to accommodate individual learning styles. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a meaningful impact on young lives.

Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Work alongside the class teacher to adapt learning materials and deliver lessons tailored to individual needs.
  • Assist in managing student behaviour, implementing strategies to promote a positive learning environment.
  • Record and monitor student progress, reporting back to teachers and SENCo as needed.
  • Promote inclusivity within the classroom, fostering a respectful and supportive atmosphere.

Required Qualifications for an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (preferred but not essential).
  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Childcare, or SEN (desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting young learners.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
