SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant
Location: Winchester
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time
Salary Scale: £12.82 - £14.72 per hour (Depending on experience)
GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant for a rewarding role supporting students with special educational needs in Winchester. This position requires a proactive individual with a genuine passion for working with children who have additional needs. The ideal candidate will possess a patient, empathetic nature and be skilled in adapting teaching techniques to support diverse learning requirements.
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support, helping students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Working closely with class teachers, you will assist in creating accessible lesson plans, encouraging active participation, and implementing individual education plans (IEPs).
Responsibilities of an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs.
- Assist in implementing IEPs and adapting learning materials to support diverse needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement, and academic progress within the classroom.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to ensure a cohesive approach.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
Required Qualifications for an SEN Teaching Assistant:
- Prior experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or similar role (preferred).
- Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent (desirable).
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and inclusive education.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate confidently.
